RESQTOOL at the 12th International Conference on Science of Hard Materials
Some partners of the RESQTOOL Project flew last month to Sri Lanka, for an important international conference that took place in Bentote, from 11th to 15th March 2024.
The 12th International Conference on the Science of Hard Materials (ICSHM12 – website) is the latest in a series of international conferences on Hard Materials that started in 1981, stemming from an earlier series of Hard Materials Workshops sponsored by the Division of Materials Research of the National Science Foundation in USA. The last edition had been held in Thailand in 2019.
It was a great occasion to present several aspects of the project, and the partners convened there took also the occasion to run fruitful internal meetings.
It was in fact the first official dissemination and communication activity at an external event for the project, and it involved 2 presentations at the conference:
- Tue March 12, 2024, 9:00 – 9:20, Session 4: Processing and Sustainability: “Valorisation of hardmetal wastes using organic acids in an eco-friendly process”, M. Cera, G.P. De Gaudenzi, S. Tedeschi, A. Muntoni, G. De Gioannis, A. Serpe
- Fri March 15, 2024, 11:30 – 11:40, Session 13: The future of Hard Materials: “Presentation of the ResQTool project”, J. Pötschke
The first was concerning one of the key technologies explored in RESQTOOL for recycling of hardmetals, that is the use of organic acids for extraction of the different constituents, and it was given by M. Cera of University of Cagliari. The second was a short communication in which the basic approach of RESQTOOL was explained by J. Pötschke of Fraunhofer IKTS. This latter presentation is also available in pdf format for you to dowload in our “Documents” page.
Both presentations met the interest of the audience!
On Tuesday 12th March, project partners from UNICA, FILMS, IKTS, CEIT, CERATIZIT, SANDVIK and HILTI, and some connected remotely, held two project meetings that were related to activities in Work Packages 1 and 3.
We will continue communicating about our project in future events, so stay tuned!
